A book with such a provocative title needed an equally provocative cover. I was intrigued when I came across images of medieval icons that had been defaced during the English Reformation in the 1500s. It was fitting to use such an image, "created" during a time of great religious upheaval, to convey the similar upheaval that was brought upon more recent culture by Nietzsche's ideologies, and how they similarly "defaced" and distorted the prevailing Christian worldview of the day.
